Adult Volunteer Program

There is great reward in teaching others to see the wonders of good health and watch a mind grow. Word-of-Mouth Oral Health Education has a selection of volunteer opportunities that are both interesting and fulfilling. Some positions interact with WOM clients, while others may work behind the scenes. Whatever the job, each and everyone is valued and performs a service for Word-of-Mouth that cannot be measured in dollars and cents.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• Be able to commit to 1 year of volunteer service
• Meet minimum hourly requirements per year
• Attend Volunteer Orientation
• Complete online application and interview process

Volunteer Opportunities:

• Teachers - Health educators work to encourage healthy lifestyles and wellness through educating individuals and communities about behaviors that can prevent diseases, injuries, and other health problems. Volunteer teachers assist with WOM’s formal and informal education programs. This position plays a vital role in the visitor experience as well as the success of special events.
• Clerical - Assist in our offices with mailings, computer data entry and other general office duties. Clerical positions may be available in the following areas: Membership Drive (February through April), Marketing, Graphics, Education and Business Offices.
• Support- Volunteers assist in the preparation of educational materials.
• Special Events (Project Driven) - Volunteers assist with special events held throughout the year. Examples of special events include Tea with the Tooth Fairy, November ConEd and Better Living Fest.
• Specialized Positions –Preventive dental procedures such as sealants and fluoride varnish application. Prior knowledge or experience in these fields is preferred.
• *Friends of the Tooth Fairy - A friend- and fund-raising organization that hosts events throughout the year. Board members meet monthly. Interested? Please use the contact us form and select "Friends of the Tooth Fairy".
